Stay tuned!

-------------------------------------------------

There are those who go with Avventure nel Mondo and all sort of things happen to them (shirker coordinators, unbearable travel mates, mutiny of some of the participants...hence, a pleasant holiday in the sign of relax and harmony). And then there are the lucky ones, who leave in eighteen people and, from strangers at the airport, quickly become big friends, get along very well, no disturbing elements, an exceptional coordinator, and the trip ends with you crying because you don't want to go back home.
Ok, you say, it's not a piece of news, you already talked about your trip to Morocco in another post in January (for those who missed it, you can find it here!). No, instead, my point is exactly this one: ten months have passed, and other travels and summer holidays in the middle, but we've kept on calling and seeing each other, in Rome and in Milan. Last meeting, for everybody to be content, halfway: in Tuscany, in the homeland of Leonardo da Vinci.

A touch and go, with arrival on Saturday afternoon and departure only 24 hours later, but I had the time to find out new venues that are worth to be remembered if you happen to be around.

Agritourism Casa Carbonaia: we slept here, on the hills, a small brick house only for us, with two fully furnished apartments and a garden with a 180 degrees view on the surrounding plains. I don't need to say that as soon as I got off the car I already felt days away from the stress of the city. The sleep in the total silence, the super breakfast all together on Sunday morning, with homemade pie and jams and sun and olive trees all around, the tasting lunch in the agritourism itself (possibility to organize it in advance by asking to the owner) and the afternoon laying by the pool did the rest. It doesn't matter if in my suitcase there were three woolen sweaters and no bathing suit to melt in the sun. It's always good to enjoy this never ending summer in October.

Ristorante Adriano: we requested to eat a good Fiorentina steak, they suggested this address. And I should say it didn't neglect the expectations at all. Not a stark restaurant, as I could maybe imagine, nor a snobbish location. The perfect venue for a Saturday night with good food and good company, lingering till late and being the very last to leave (the dining room was full before, it should mean something!). Enormous steaks and fried mushrooms sides: everything delicious, according to those who ate it. But also my mushroom and parmesan salad and my char-grilled chicken (red meat in the evening and I do not get along very well) didn't need to wait for long before being devoured. Desserts were excellent too and, final suprise, in the little cup served at the end didn't come the coffee, but a finger chocolate panna cotta. No doubts, I note it among the venues to remember around my new florentine residence.

Casa di Leonardo and Museo Leonardiano: it's out of discussion to be in the homeland of Leonardo and not interrupt the wine/food tour with a small cultural break. First stop at the house where he was born, a couple of rooms to see in about ten minutes. Second stop at the museum dedicated to his innumerable inventions, each sided by a detailed mechanic explanation. And here the time to invest increases: it just took me twenty minutes to understand how a "strettoio ad olio" works...I admit I walked quickly in the last rooms, my Sunday brain capacity was already over.
The location itself is worth the visit, a little castel in the walking center of Vinci, with a roof terrace and a 360 degrees view. In case you don't want to understand the mechanic operation of an igrometer, you can still take plenty of panoramic pictures with your smartphone.

Well, that's how also this weekend has flyed. We ate, we got some rest, we visited new places and we got lost in endless talks. Our last topic of conversation? Of course, the next trip. After cous-cous and desert, after Fiorentina steak and olive trees, we are ready for new adventures. Stay tuned.
